Six of us rode east from Los Angeles in an Astrovan with a
destination in mind: Cattleman’s – a “legendary Texan steakhouse” that served
The Cowboy, a two-pound T-Bone. We had three days to get there and back, making
stops in Tucson for Whataburger and Albuquerque for grits and Davy Crocket
hats.
When we arrived in Texas, we drove up a dirt road until we
got to the restaurant at sunset, toured the large estate – complete with a petting zoo – and ordered a plethora of food,
only to do it all again the next morning before heading back on the road.
